The Boy Who’ll Always Run in the Rain

The heaven exploded
As the earth imploded
Showering the world below
Quenching the parched earth
Respite from summer’s heat

The thunder roared in response
To the cries of the world below
And the lightening flashed a smile
Lighting up the night sky

And the rain powered down
To a grateful earth
Beads of sweat replaced by
Droplets of rain
Time to soak in the pouring rain
Rather than being soaked
In your own sweat

Gone would be the pungent smell
Of the mangroves drying in the heat
And in its place a sweet smell of wet mud
Time to put away that cooling lemonade
Time for some chai-pakoda
To curl with a book,
as the rain poured outside

Finally a respite from summer’s heat
To a world that would have burst in flames
If it had to faced more heat

So the next morn
As soon as I opened my door
I am greeted by an air
That feels several degrees cooler
Than yesterday’s morn
And the smell of wet mud
Fills a grateful nostrils

So as I begin my morning run
I take to a wet street
That’s been washed clean
From last evening downpour

The tree too seemed to
Have shed off some of it’s dead weight
And the leaves have been washed clean
Of the dirt and grime
Accumulated through summer
And now look bright and shiny and green
The streets are lined with
Fallen branches, leaves and flowers

Puddles have appeared on the street
You trying hopelessly dodge them
Finally giving up, you run through it
With a splish and a splash
The child in you takes over
And you run with glee
As the rising sun
Dries off the wet earth

You say a silent pray of thanks
For the respite from the heat
Hoping it continues to rain
Cooling off the heated earth
Otherwise it would be
Hot and humid all over
If the rains decide to play truant
So with this hope in your heart
And spring in your feet
You’ll be the boy
Who’ll always run in the rain

Well Hello... Mr. Loneliness

Hey Loneliness my old friend! Looks like we meet again! But then you were never ever gone, with me all along. So how are you doing? When would you be leaving? Don’t you have other better things to do, instead of wanting to do you? Like an uninvited guest you’ve overstayed your welcome (but in the first place when were you ever welcomed), so when would you be packing your bag and leaving, cause you’re the one thing I don’t need even if I ain’t grieving.

Like a lover you refuse to leave my side, if that’s case I would rather love than have you by my side, and if there were a lover then there would be no other to leave me lonely alone.

Aren’t there others to stalk, more deserving candidates that I am not. Why don’t you give them a short, as you’ve done for me, to get to know you really well from all the time we’ve spent, hopefully not birds of a feather, cause there’s no way I would want us to flock together.

Isn’t there a poor soul out there who deserves to be more lonelier than me (though I really pray not). Don’t you think it’s time we move on, to better things in life, though I wonder and shudder thinking what would be better for you.

If you love me then why do you hurt me? Why do you revel in the agony of cutting me and leaving me bleeding. Such torture, I say, is sadistic, unbecoming of a lover. But then you’re unlike any lover, you’ll just laugh as I lay there bleeding, leaving me to wonder what pleasure do you get from doing so? What high do you get from making me feel low and alone.

May be it’s time we take a break from each other, not the Ross and Rachel kind, a real kind of break, let’s say forever. Try to find another, to say goodbye to each other. To bid farewell, not for a while or a mile, but for all time to come. I really hope we don’t see each other... ever.

The Road... The Word... The Boy

On the road is where I’m most home
In the words is where I find myself
Two things that always help me
To make it through the highs and lows
That is the life we live
The life I live

The road will never let me go
Always at my feet
Like a loyal friend
Always by my side
Telling me it will always be there for me
No matter who I meet or
No matter where I may go

Words let’s me express myself
Express the feelings that I feel
That resides deep with the recesses of me
That would otherwise be suppressed
Away from the prying eyes
Not for all to see
Just for me to feel

The road lets me take all the hurt I feel
All my pains, frustrations and disappointments
All of my silly insecurities
All my mundane worries and cares
To mix into a potent ball
Lay it all at my feet
To set it on fire, fuelling me on
To get over the hopelessness I feel

Words let’s me say the things
 I wouldn’t dare to say
What I wouldn’t find the courage to say
To express myself, to express who I am
Give a glimpse into my psyche
To give vent to all that’s bottled inside me
To say the things I need to say
To lay myself out bare
In the words I write

The road is endless
It goes on and on
Always at my feet
no matter where I may go
No matter what becomes of me
It will always be there for me
The ground beneath my feet
Challenging me, urging me
Always believing in me
No matter how I feel about me

The road lets me forget my cares, my sorrows
Every setbacks, every heartaches
It forces me lay it there
Forcing me to let go
Forcing me to move on
Not be stuck in one place
But keep moving
Least I should be left behind
While the world would have moved on

No matter where I go
Over land or sea or shore
I shall have a road beneath my feet
A word in my heart
Always a part of me
The road, the word, the boy
