Diwali - The Festival of Lights?????

Well they Diwali is the festival of lights. But thats not the impression I get everytime this festival comes. Walking down the road from the main road to my place, it felt I felt like had walked into a war. We have been fortunate enough not to have witnessed any of the wars, but this diwali really got the impression of being in one.

The cracker noise were deafening. The sky was set a blaze with a beutiful aerial fireworks. But when they lit the sky it gave me the impression of the scud missiles that we had seen during the Iraq war on TV. The noise and pollution was unbearable.

WEll I know that we have a freedom to celebrate our own festival. But should we use this freedom to poarch on others freedom. Imagine all the sick and the old, those suffering from asthma and not forgetting the kids and pets???? Do we give a second thought about them when we light these crackers????

Lets imagine all the waste of the crackers the next day were burnt rupees notes, because thats what we do. WE have burnt money. That money that we call important and something that could come handy for a rainy day.

Sometimes I wished that I could put a hex on everyone and they could get the heraring pitch of a doctor or any other animals and then let see how they would go about lighting crackers.

WEll theyu Diwali is the triumphant reurn of Lord Rama from exile where people welcomed him with lights and diyas. Well if he was returing in the present time we would feel that he returned from exile and into a war.

Where do we get strength from????

The say life is not always a bed roses. There are thorns under the roses. Well what make you get over the hurdles. Is there someone who pulls you through it, is ther to guide and offer you a hand when you stumble??? Or do you find the strength from your innerself????

For the couple of days its been quite in the news about the story of Afzal, the mastermind behind the attack on the parliement and his family trying to stop his execution. Well there has been a big hugh and cry about his impending execution. Well reading about this in the paper actually surprises me. Well firstly this person conspired against the country and has been sentenced to death. we have NGo and CM rallying around him.

Firstly he says that he has not been given an proper trail. Well his death sentence has been upheld by both the Supreme and High court. Both the courts can't be that corrupt and give him a fair trial. And this not some third world nation, like pakistan or Afghanisthan that wouldn't give hima fair trail.

Well death sentence may be seen inhuman by some. How do you punish someone who carried out such an heinous crime.

Well his son tries to hang him self to see what it feels like to be hanged. What would the children of those who lost their lives in this attack would they shoot themselves to feel what it would be like????

Well giving him the death penalty would create upheavle in Kashmir, but not giving him his due punishment would make the billions of citizen of India loose their belief in the justice system.

Well what need to do is uproot terrorism. if they can listen to reason maybe we'll need to shock them they way they try and shock us.

Pri-Pro-Quo

We seem to have gotten into a habit of doing things based on what things the other has done for you. Just this morning my aunt asked me to wish a close friend for their aniversary or they will get angry. Or you would wish someone for their birthday because they have wished you on yours. Or do we give presents to others based on the ones you got from them.

Gone are the days when you wished or gave present meaningfully and from you heart. Really wish they would return.

Salsa in the Train

Well It's back to work after a long weekend, especially extended as I took leave on Friday. Well the weekend was pretty eventful. The Miss World competition, weddings, dandiya/garba in the rain, finall caught Omkara (which btw is brilliant). But the highlight was actually doing Salsa in the train. Well my friend Sangeeta was making a documentary of Salsa in Mumbai and she wanted to show people doing Salsa at different place. Well she roped me in and asked me to meet her at Andheri station. Well when she eventually dropped the bomb on me. ME and Rhema (my other friend), actuall did a bit of Salsa in the first class compartment. We did have a bit of an audience who were watching us and curious to know what was going on. Well thanks to shows like Jahlak Dikla Ja they were a bit a ware of Latin dancing. Well the experience of dancing in a train was definitely un-nerving and scary and a bit embarassing. But in the end glad I did it. IT actually gives me something unique to share with others.
