Juno

Juno is a simple story about teen pregnancy. This could have easily been a very preachy, bland, cheesy and TV soap like movie (read Kya Kehna! here). But its steers clear from these territories (Thankfully, I may add). What you have here is a simple story refreshingly told, wonderfully acted, with characters that are believable, people you can relate to. Everything on screen seems real, whether its the accidental pregnancy, adoption, being prepared for parenthood, events that change family dynamics, family support. Everything seems so true and believable.
Juno belongs to Ellen Page. She smart, in your face, witty, independent, adorable character who goes through things that way beyond her age. I always liked Jennifer Garner but here I liked her even more. She seems to be so believable as a woman trying to fulfil her maternal instinct. And so is Jason Bateman, a man who initially seems ready for parenthood but yet longs for the good ole days. And yes there is the simple, nerdy, Michael Cera as Bleeker, the person responsible for the pregnancy (and the whole movie) . The scene where he just comes holds on to Juno after she's given birth and given the baby up for adoption, touches, shows his support to her.
Most of all the movie is Diablo Cody's masterpiece. For a lady who has been a stripper to write such a beautiful movie is hats off and the Oscar is well deserved. :)
