Sermons

Today attended Mass where the priest gave a sermon how the morality of society has been gradually being eroded away and how people are loosing themselves to sin. He used a couple pf examples - one obviously the recent attack on Mumbai, the morality of cinema and lastly the institution of marriage.

The so called terrorist captured in the attack has shown no remorse for what he has done or has been part of, and lack of awareness of his siness formed a part of a the sermon. According to my view people like Kasab will never claim what they have done is wrong, they would never view it as a sin. The truth being they have been preached to moulded to understand the fact that what they are doing is right and something what their so called God and religion wants them to. For such people they will never see what they have done as a sin.

The second point that the priest used was vulgarity and no morales in movies and soap. This actually started sounding like some old foggie refusing to accept the changing times. YEs i do agree that at time these do push the boundaries of morality...but don't we have our own sense of judgement to say what is right and what is wrong. The last thing we need is yet another morale policeman or a person telling us what to do.

Lastly he spoke about how same sex marriage is erroding the instution of marriage. This is something I totally disagree on. Marriage is a scared union between two people who are deeply in love with each other and want to be together for the rest of their lives. Hoewever now days marriages have come in with a warranty period. There are cheatings and break ups and seperations and divorces. All this could be due to the fact that people cannot stay in love or with a person too long...or that people are jumping into matrimony without giving time to things to develop before getting into. These are some of the reason for the scatity of the marriage being eroded and not same sex marriage. The Church may not recognised the union between two people if the same sex...but this doesn't mean that their union in unholy or different from a hetrosexual union. The only difference here being is that the two person are of the same gender. I don't see anything sinful in this. The two people love each other therefore tjhey decided to cement thir bond legally.

Anyway this was my view about the sermon.
