From Sea to Shore, From Air to Land to Home

She got the roses and she got the wine, with a little help his flight would land on time. She had waited, what felt like a lifetime for this day to come, but now this was here she couldn’t wait for a minute more. But we had to. He didn’t like the sentimentalism of receiving and send off. He been through it so much that he didn’t care much for it. So she found herself at home waiting for him to arrive.

She had spoken to him, Skyped with him, before he got off port, when he got off the boat, when he reached the airport, before he boarded the flight. But that seemed like another lifetime ago, she couldn’t wait any longer. She was too wound up and excited to even to rest. Waiting for him to come, waiting to hear that familiar voice that familiar touch.

She hated that he came and went, spending a few months before he left for sea again. She hated that she got to spend, what she felt was too little time. The sea was his mistress but she was his lady. The sea was the Camilla to her Diana, Smita to her Shabana. She couldn’t help it, but by now she reluctantly accepted the situation. So now she waited for him to come.

She heard that familiar footsteps, she could tell, it was a sense she had developed. And then there was ring of the doorbell. Though it had rung a thousand time before, this was special, this was different. She rushed to the door and into his arms. She wanted to tell him that she missed him every single moment of her day, of her nights, her life. Now that he was here, she didn’t want to let him go.

She had some romantic music and lights down low, along with the roses and the wine. He stood there amazed at the door, wondering what was all this for. But this was simple thing that she had done for him, for the man that she adored. Cause she wanted him to know that she was missing him, more than any words could say, she had been thinking about him every single moment of her day, but that he was here, she was never ever letting him go.
