Indian V/S International Reality Shows

It's been quite a while since reality TV invaded the Indian television screens. Most of them are syndicates of foreign television. So how do these show stack up with their international counterparts. Well I can say miserably.

I'm a big dance fan, and I must admit that I am a big fan of So You Think You Can Dance. Everything about it fun and entertaining. The contestant and the judges, the choreography, the dance styles and the choreographers. And other hand you Lux Dance India Dance. Where
SYTYCD has the dancers dance a variety of dance style, Dance India Dance seem to be stuck at Hip Hop and Popping and everything related to it which can become quite boring and repetitive. Secondly for a dance show, Dance India Dance relies more on gimmicks and acrobatic, and unnecessary drama, also the show suffers from limited choreographer, you just have the three judges choreographing and you have the same thing over and over again. The talent pool also is very limited. Pity because there isn't a limited pool of talent in India.

Then you have the various singing competition. Though in both cases you have bad judges with weird comment, but in case of the Indian version you get background singers and singers who are not original. The American one has churned out some big names like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, where as the Indian winners have been forgotten and gone. They do nothing but ape famous singers and sound awful and even annoying if they are kids.

The anchors are even pathetic. Give Cat Deleely any day. The only Indian program that match its international is Jhalak Dhik Laja :)

Just wished my family realised this and stopped watching it.
