The Boo Experience

It’s the night of Halloween, the day of the dead. The day when the whole world turns into one big cosplay. People, young and old, dressed as ghost and ghouls and things most foul, prowling the streets asking trick or treat. It’s a day for candy rush (not candy crush) and for brining on the scares. But have you ever wondered if there was indeed a thin veil that kept the afterlife at bay. In short, do you believe in ghosts?

Have you ever wondered about what lurks in the dark, the things that goes bump in the night, if there’s someone hiding in the shadows waiting to jump you. Have you ever felt you were being followed, been stared upon, only to turn around to find no one there. Have you felt that breath at the back of your neck that drives a shiver up your spine (or is it down your spine), chills you to the bone.

Try walking home in the dark after watching a scary movie. If you are a scary boob like me, you’ll begin to hear things, or imagine hearing things. And then all your senses are heightened with fear that sleep deserts you and you’ll float too unless you say one Our Father And three Hail Marys (my go to scare buster).

For some it maybe just old nan’s tale (to borrow something from the equally scary Game of Thrones... have you seen the White Walkers and walking dead?). Something to keep hyper hormonal teenagers at bay. In a way, their very own version of birth control. These are just for entertainment purpose, trying make money from the scares. So there’s nothing like the headless horseman staring at your  building (never did understand this one), or the lady in white that roams the passages of your building with a candle, or the infamous teen Mundi lady.

But what if, just what if, there’s someone that stalked our dreams with knives instead of fingers, or a machete wielding, hockey mask wearing killer on the lookout nubile teenagers trying to get it on, or scary demonic clowns with red balloons trying to entice you, or a ghost face wearing serial killer stalking young couple and quizzing you with horror movie trivia. If these were real, an already scary world would indeed be a scarier place.

So whether you believe it or not, or you just brush it aside as a figment of your imagination, your blind faith, there are certainly things that are unexplainable. These may or may not be of the supernatural kind, but there certainly are things beyond our understanding.

So before I try and wrap this write up(or blog... whatever you want to call it) let me ask you one question. What’s your favourite scary movie?
